Statistics & history
Tunetorch analyses what you listen to. That happens only for you and only on your own server. None of it leaves the installation.
When a play counts
A track counts once as soon as you've heard 25 % of it, but at most 30 seconds. Briefly skipping through doesn't count, and fast-forwarding doesn't count as listening. This works the same in the browser, in the app and when playing on a DLNA speaker.
What plays outside the app is recorded too: a play in the car or on a DLNA speaker then shows up in the history and statistics just the same. Without a network, the Android app collects the plays on the device and records them as soon as the network is back, with the time you actually listened.
Statistics page
You reach it via the user menu. Tunetorch draws the charts itself. It brings the library it needs along, and the browser loads nothing from the internet for it.
Library statistics
- Number of tracks, albums, artists and genres
- Breakdown by genre
- Audio quality, bitrates and file formats
- Breakdown by decade
- Total playing time and storage used
You can also show the figures as the top section of the home page (on out of the box).
Personal statistics
- How much you've listened, by Day (up to 28 days) or Year (up to 12 months)
- Which genres you've listened to
- When you listen, by time of day and weekday
- Your most played tracks, albums and artists
The chart only goes back as far as there's history. If you've been listening for ten days, you see ten days and no empty stretch before them. Days without plays within the period show as zero.
For restricted accounts, the statistics only show the music that has been shared with the account.
Playback history
The history shows every play in the order you listened, grouped by day (Today / Yesterday / date) and with the time for each track. If you listened to a track several times, it appears several times. That's the difference from the home page section “Recently played tracks”, which only shows the last time for each track.
Load more fetches older entries. New plays appear by themselves.
This is how you get there:
- via the History entry in the user menu (right below “Statistics”)
- with a click on the section title “Recently played tracks” on the home page
Deleted tracks
If a track is deleted for good, it stays in your history. Tunetorch remembers the title, artist and length beforehand. The entry then reads “Deleted track”, can no longer be clicked, and your statistics stay correct.
Most played tracks
Every artist profile page has the Most played tracks list. It counts the plays of all users, so it shows what's listened to on this server as a whole, not just by you.
It also counts tracks on which the artist is a guest or which they recorded together with others. For such tracks, the line below the title shows who else is involved, for example “Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa” or “Kissin' Dynamite feat. …”. Each name there links to its profile. A track's tags are shown in the list as well.
This counter is anonymous. It only stores how often a track played, without any link to an account. That's why it stays in place when a user is deleted, and still reveals nothing about individual people. Your personal statistics are kept separately and disappear with your account.
Privacy
- No telemetry, no tracking. Your listening data isn't sent anywhere.
- Your personal statistics belong to your account. Other users don't see them.
- If you delete your account, your history is deleted with it.
